ChangeSaw
‘ChangeSaw’ was my first crack at blending tension with comedy. The script was written lighthearted with some velveta (and that comes out in the running sequence) but this short’s audience was a 14-18 year old demographic so I felt the added tension would help hold their attention.
The script set the story in suburbia, but I wanted something more isolated. I looked hard to find the perfect location. The location with it’s tin roof shack, woods, sheds and creeks were nice, but the Old Mill really got me excited.
I used a mixed camera style to cut through the tension- we go from shaking cameras and point of view shots to the flowing jib style of Dan Grimes.
